101 young poor couples married off by Bharat Vikas Parishad

NOIDA, 29 December, 2009: 101 young poor couples married off by Bharat Vikas Parishad on Saturday afternoon at Sector 19, B Block Park. Noida. They have been provided with all daily needs. Shri Surendra Singh Nagar, M.P., Shri Satbir Gurjar, M.L.A. were the Chief Guest and Special Guest on the occasion. About 3000 people from urban and rural areas of Gautam Budh Nagar and other parts of the country witnessed community marriage said convenor of Bharat Vikas Parishad Shri Vipin Malhan.

13 students undergo free polio ortho corrective surgery

Ludhiana : As many as 13 children were operated upon during the first polio ortho corrective surgery camp held at Bharat Vikas Parishad Viklang Sahayta Kender, Rishi Nagar, on Sunday. This initiative has been taken by Krishan Kumar, Director General, School Education-cum-State Project Director, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan.

About 27 children along with their parents were brought here for corrective polio surgery. They were identified through inclusive Education Coordinators of SSA from Mansa, Ludhiana and Nawanshar. Dr Pawan Dhingra, an orthopaedician, examined these and selected 13 for the surgery, who were operated upon successfully by him along with his team.

Anil Matharoo, district coordinator of Inclusive Education for SSA, Ludhiana, said, "The stay, arrangement for transportation, food and treatment after surgery has been arranged by SSA and Bharat Vikas Parishad, Charitable Trust, Ludhiana. These children will be relieved on Tuesday. Their plasters will be replaced after one month and it will be followed up by physiotherapy which too will be arranged free-of-cost by SSA. Yash Pal Gupta, Honorary Secretary of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Ludhiana, said, "We have been holding free polio corrective surgery camp on every second Sunday of the month. Till now, the Trust has performed 431 polio corrective surgeries with 100% success rate. The Trust has also provided artificial limbs, caliper, tricycles, wheel chairs and hearing aids to nearly 30,000 physically handicapped children."

Anil said that five children suffering from cerebral palsy had already been operated upon at Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital.
