Eighth
All India National Sanskrit Group Song Competition 2012-13 was held on 12th-13th
January, 2013 at Ahmedabad
(Gujarat) hosted by Gujarat Madhya Prant. The event
started on the cool morning of 12th January, 2013 at the beautiful spacious
premises of Adharshila International School. Honourable personalities present on
the stage included among others BVP National President Ex-Governor and Retd.
High Court Chief Justice V.S. Kokje, Rajya Sabha member and famous T.V. artist
Smt. Smruti Irani, BVP Gujarat Trustee & ex-Rajya Sabha member Shri Surendrabhai
Patel etc.
The Prant President, Shri Vallabhbhai Ramani made a welcome speech and
introduced those on the dais. The National Secretary General, Shri S. K. Wadhwa
welcomed everybody especially remembering 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami
Vivekanand and Golden Jubilee Year of Bharat Vikas Parishad. The chief guest
Smt. Smriti Irani vindicated the significance of our ancient culture and role of
Sanskrit language in it. She called it a language of the Universe and
congratulated the parents and teachers of the students participating in the
competition. The entrance passage was richly decorated by Rangoli of Swami
Vivekanand made by local artists.
Both the competitions took place simultaneously in nicely decorated separate
halls. Total 36 teams from different prants from all over India participated in
the event. Mementos were given to all of them as soon as their performance was
over.
Shri Surendrabhai Patel (trustee of Gujarat BVP) who had recently completed 75th
year of his life was greeted through a poetic tribute by another trustee Shri
Chaitanyabhai Trivedi in Sanskrit language and he was given a beautifully framed
memento containing the same.
The second day was mainly devoted to declaration of competition results, prizes
distribution to the winner teams and unveiling of our souvenir published on the
occasion "Vivek Vani" jointly by chief guest Hon. Shri Gautambhai Patel
ex-president, Gujarat Sanskrit Sahitya Academy and Justice Kokjeji. It was also
the occasion to appreciate the marvelous work done by various committees that
made the whole event a grand success.
The winners in Sanskrit Group Song Competition were as follows:
Karnataka (South) stood first, second rank was shared by Maharashtra and Tamil
Nadu; Andhra Pradesh (East) and Madhya Pradesh (West) were judged 3rd and 4th
respectively.
In the Regional Folk Song Competition the winners' ranking was declared as
under:
(1) Maharashtra-Coastal, (2) Punjab (South), (3) Karnataka (South) and (4)
Haryana (West).
