The Vision of Bharat Vikas Parishad

There are three salient features of B.V.P. They are ……

(i) The Work…. Kaarya

(ii)                 The Working style … Kaarya Shyli

(iii)                (iii) The Worker … Kaarya Karta

(1) Work of BVP:- Here ‘Work’ means the thought basis. At the outset let me make it clear what is not BVP work. BVP was neither started as a reaction, nor as a competitor to any organization of similar activities. Also it was never a carbon copy. Reaction is a negative thing and has no existence of its own. Hence reaction does not last long. Competition also does not augur well for any organization. It may lead to unnecessary quarrel; carbon copy lacks creativity & serves no purpose.

BVP has its ideological mooring in pure Bharatiya Darshan.

There are two very important sections of the society, which are numerically small but possess enormous capacity. And they play an important role in the progressive march of the country.

They are (i) The Elite and (ii) The Affluent.

The elite are the children of Mother Saraswati

The affluent are the children of Mother Lakshmi.

These are numerically small but have high potential. The rest are Aaam Aadmi who form the bulk of the society. In Bhartiya concept, the elite & the affluent are not separate privileged classes distanced away from the Aam Aadmi. All the three are the children of the same Bharatmata. Hence all are indivisible members of the same family. The tradition of our country is that the elite & the affluent have all along been attending to the needs of the Aam Aadmi in the society with a sense of family obligation.

The duty of the elite is to show the right direction to the society and that of the affluent is to strive to increase the living standard.

Bharat Vikas Parishad calls upon the elite & the affluent to join BVP and discharge their social obligations by actively involving themselves in various Sanskar and Sewa activities.

(2) Working style of BVP

Every Organisation adopts its own system of working. It can be called as the technique of the organisation.

That way BVP has evolved its own technique. We have the Constitution, the Bye Laws and BVP functions in accordance with them. Our basic unit is called the Branch.  Then State, Zone and at the top National Committee. Elections are held regularly. Branch, Provincial Council, Zonal Council, National Council, National Governing Board and many other regular meetings are held. But here I want to focus on the working style of the BVP & not the system. ‘Style’ is something connected with the nature. One example illustrates this point clearly. In our system every year election is a constitutional necessity. But in practice, in how many cases would there be a contest? Hardly very few. Consensus is the most normal thing. In fact Bharatiya family is our model.

Bharatiya family is the oldest institution in the World with an un-written constitution. Here there are no rules  & regulations but a beautiful style has been developed which unites the family by an emotional bond; a sense of belonging. Here every member is an indivisible limb of the whole family. “One for all and all for every one”, is the spirit here which binds the whole family.

Most important feature of Bharatiya family is that it accepts difference of opinion; but mutual trust is not undermined  and the family remains un-broken. BVP wants to adopt this style.

(3) Worker:- There is a guideline for BVP workers viz what to do and what not to do; How to do and how not to do.

Constitution and Bye Laws are our guide. Not mere words, but living examples inject life in the organization. A true worker is one who always strives hard to set an example before others. I have come across a good number of senior workers who have taken up BVP work as their life mission. Also many juniors when asked how they feel working in BVP have humbly told that they are getting Aatma-Santusthi (Self contentment) and hence are in BVP.

There is a small story effectively giving a massage in this regard.

Hundreds of stone cutters were engaged in stone cutting in a ground. A pilgrim passing by that way, wanted to know what is going on there. He asked one of the labourers “Brother, why are you cutting the stones?” He told, “Sir I get 50 Rs.daily”. Another cutter when asked told,” Sir in order to give a definite shape I am cutting the stones.”. A third one told,” Sir all the villagers of this village have decided to build a Mahaveer Temple. I am also contributing my mite in this sacred work!”

The work was the same; cutting the stones. But the motivating spirit was different. No need to say that the spirit of the third stone cutter shall be the motivating factor for all of our BVP Workers.

July 10th- On this auspicious Birthday of the divine movement of Bharat Vikas Parishad we should pledge to march forward with greater speed and commitment so that by 2013, our Swarnim Jayanti, BVP reaches new heights.
